About me
I am in my fourth and final year at Iowa State University studying Fashion, Merchandising, and Design with a focus in Product Development. My expected graduation is May 2026.
Ever since I was a child I loved playing dress up, trying on my Moms high heels, and having a fashion show. I have to give my Mother so much credit for making me who I am today. Teaching me how to sew while playing hooky from school, giving me my freedom to dress and express myself through clothing. I also have to thank my older sister Mariah for being my idol, I have always loved her style and always wanted to dress like her a child and now. My Mother and Mariah kindled my love for vintage clothing and they both still inspire me to this day.
Throughout my entire college career I have worked as a barista on campus and quickly rose to a Supervisor position. This job has taught me many important lessons. I have learned how to communicate professionally and efficiently with my Managers and co-workers. My time as a Supervisor has also taught me self worth and has built my confidence in my leadership abilities. I've had opportunities where I had to work in a hostile environment due to co-workers who didn't take me seriously because I am a woman and because I am physically small. They mistook my small stature as a small demeanor and self worth, they were very wrong. I have to thank them for pushing me to know my worth as a woman and how my strength will not falter. I adapted the saying "You may look down to me, but I will not let you look down at me." Do not mistake my kindness for the inability to be authoritative in my own right.
In January 2025 during the first week of my sixth semester my Grandpa passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was a constant in my life, with an academically strict and absent father, and a mother who has been through so much, my Grandpa was always there to reassure me that he will always be proud of me, there was never any judgment or anger about grades just love and motivational speeches. When he passed it made me distant and distracted, but I would always hear his voice saying "who loves you?" because he always made sure I knew that he did. That phrase has helped me through my last year at Iowa State University.
