Patternmaking: Drafting and Flat Pattern

In this course I focused on developing flat patterns including but not limited to a size 6 bodice, a size 6 skirt, and sleeves patterns. Then by using those base patterns, I would reconstruct them to create a different pattern for the project and style I was trying to achieve.

Project 1:

For Project 1 I was tasked with making a dress from our base bodice and skirt, I converted the bodice to make a shoulder princess seam by measuring down to the bust, curving and drew a vertical line and then cut the pattern from the shoulder to the hem. I added a front and backing facing by tracing the front and back neckline. I created a 6-gore skirt with two darts on the front and back side panels, I did this by slashing and spreading the base skirt. For my closure I used an invisible zipper.

Project 2:

For Project 2, I was tasked to make a shirt and skirt. I converted the bodice to make a cropped shirt with a french dart and gathered cap sleeve. The shirt had an invisible zipper for the closure. The shirt also included a Peter Pan collar. I made a flare skirt with a one inch waistband with an invisible zipper closure.
